Memorial Day Ceremony and Open House

Join us on Memorial Day 2022. Please mark this date for the Annual Remembrance Ceremony and a special Hometown Heroes exhibit on Monday, May 30th.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm – Ceremony
Attend the American Legion’s Annual Remembrance Ceremony, staged outside in parking lot, featuring Keynote speaker:
Morgan Boyd, San Luis Obispo County
Veteran Services Officer, and Army
combat veteran (Iraq & Afghanistan).
10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Open House
In celebration of the Museum’s 20th year Anniversary, they’ve adopted the theme of Hometown Heroes for 2022. This Memorial Day, a special Tribute Exhibit will be open to visitors from 10am – 2pm, telling the stories of SLO County service members who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military: MIA, KIA, POWs. Thank you to Jim Gregory, local historian & author, and Lynne Ludwick, local author, for their contributions to these special Hometown Heroes exhibits.
General Event Info:
Live music by a Cal Poly Brass Quintet. Food truck is scheduled to be onsite. A Letter Writing Table will be set up for visitors to write letters to active military deployed across the world. The Letter Writing Table is a collaborative effort with “Helping Soldiers In The Desert” founded by local Korean War veteran, Si Tenenberg.
